In 2019, the Shopware AG, added a six-story office cube for 150 employees to their office campus. The hybrid construction combining timber with reinforced concrete offers light-flooded open space offices. Vertical timber fins accentuate the glass façade and provide shading. On the ground floor a canteen and on the roof a terrace offer breakout spaces for the employees. Prefabricated wall and ceiling elements with a length of up to 16.8 m accelerated the construction period to only only ten months.
Life cycle assessment proved that the CO2 footprint of the hybrid-timber construction is 30% lower than the reference value of an average office building.
